More About Us

The Rainforest Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization operating from the heart of the Peruvian rainforest. Established in 2021, it is led by a group of Peruvians committed to the sustainable development of the Amazon since 1990. Our mission is to preserve and protect this invaluable ecosystem, recognizing that active engagement and fostering social and economic development within local communities are essential to achieve this.

Peruvian Rainforest

Approximately 59% of Peru is covered by forest, including more than 68 million ha of tropical rainforest across the Amazon and Andes.Peru is the 9th most biodiverse country in the world with approximately 7% of known animal species and 6.3% of known plant species, of which 7,590 plant species and 725 animal species are endemic to Peru’s unique ecosystems!

We are dedicated to promoting conservation and regeneration practices by working closely and respectfully with Amazonian communities in a collaborative manner. We firmly believe that the preservation of the Amazon rainforest is intertwined with the well-being of its inhabitants. Therefore, we strive to drive projects that promote sustainable development, environmental education, and the appreciation of natural resources.

Discover San Martin

San Martin is a department located in northeastern Peru, known for its rich biodiversity, stunning landscapes, and significant rainforest cover. The population of San Martin is approximately 900,000 people.San Martin faces social challenges, including poverty and inequality. Poverty levels in the department have been a concern, particularly in rural communities. Poverty often correlates with limited access to basic services, education, and healthcare, which are crucial for improving the overall well-being of the population.

Guided by our vision of a future where the Amazon is respected and preserved as a treasure, we tirelessly work to raise awareness, engage present and future generations, and forge strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders. Our commitment to conservation and sustainable development drives us to leave a lasting and meaningful legacy for the Peruvian Amazon and future generations.
